Hard to know why Government Dept of Agriculture, Food and the Marine Michael Healy-Rae is going to bail out 🌲 investors after storm damage with yet more taxpayers money when their own forest manual requires owners to hold insurance fore such named events? Industry lobby? State aid?? Moral hazard??

Walking through the burnt forestry near Rostrevor.. You can see the deep pits. This was planted on blanket bog and the fire burnt large amounts of peat underground. This forest should never have been planted here

It is now clear that Irelands plantation 🌲 plan has nothing to do with climate change or GHG Green mitigation but is all about enriching investors, profits & return on investment to the timber industry & vested interests. Looked after by Michael Healy-Rae independent.ie/irish-news/gre…

Another taxpayer funded "investment" Dept of Agriculture, Food and the Marine Forest service Michael Healy-Rae up in smoke adding to GHG emissions & particulate pollution. Who will cover the costs? How can insurance companies cover "forestry" now given the windblow & now this? FBD Insurance facebook.com/share/1ChajJox…

Planting trees on peatlands leads to more GHG emissions then those trees sequester. 30cm of peat stores up to 327 tonnes of carbon per ha. Forestry = 145 T Ca per Ha. It does not make sense to plant trees on peatland as a climate change solution. Michael Healy-Rae Dept of Agriculture, Food and the Marine

Mainly plantation 🌲 investors backed by grants, premia & tax breaks from Michael Healy-Rae Dept of Agriculture, Food and the Marine that is blocking our young people from accessing land to farm in #Leitrim & the west. We need a proper land use plan not just to be a 🌲sacrifice zone leitrimobserver.ie/news/farming--…

This lady & may see the value in the west. They & we don’t believe in the planting with Sitka forestry to the detriment of others. We value people, family, environment & community. Join us & others Save Leitrim Save Kerry

It’s no wonder when the paper of record links a photo of conifer forestry with any story regarding carbon emissions. Irish forestry is a carbon emitter 🤔

Unsuitable and inappropriate plantation and there is no real mechanism for input or influence of Dept of Agriculture, Food and the Marine on the licensing regarding community concerns & social issues. Local people who matter are excluded from the process. #communitiesnotconifers con-telegraph.ie/2025/06/17/may…

There is no criteria or assessment of community concerns in the afforestation licensing process by the Forest Service Dept of Agriculture, Food and the Marine minister Michael Healy-Rae ignores such concerns in favour of forestry owners, timber industry lobby & profits/ returns? agriland.ie/farming-news/c…

I’m so fed up of farmers of having to do the heavy lifting of protecting biodiversity Morning Ireland Martin Heydon where’s the obligation on Coillte & Bord na Móna Fuels to do so instead of draining bogs and planting non native monocultures!?

This taken today in #Leitrim is why the forestry industry has to change and why Michael Healy-Rae Dept of Agriculture, Food and the Marine Coillte Forest Industries Ireland have to take action to cut back 🌲 that are impacting on our community infrastructure, services and impacting negatively on our lives.

The ESB Networks & Coillte move a harvester into a plantation today in West Cavan / #Leitrim to address power outages with lines downed by 🌲 forestry. Coillte inventory mapping shows 12 to12.5 m setbacks but in reality setback is 6 to 6.5 each side of the line ❌️🌲
