The SCANN Lab is coming to Psychonomic Society #psynom23! Presentations on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Can't make it? We got you. go.ufl.edu/psynom23 for all lab posters! Find us here, too: @a_a_d_d_a_a_m_m, Eliany Perez, Ece Yüksel, Jeff

SCANN Lab PhD student Eliany Perez leading a really cool project here, funded by @SRNDNA to examine variability in decision making and spatial navigation behavior in older adults (with and without AD). Also featuring @PeterKvam , @dawnbowersphd, Dr. Natalie Ebner and Adam Barnas

Would a compass help you learn a large-scale environment better?🧭 What about a mountain range?🏔️ Our results show that this is not the way to enhance spatial memory. See our (my first 🥹) preprint with Steven Weisberg & Zachary Boogaart! osf.io/preprints/psya… SCANN Lab

Really grateful to be part of such an amazing team - Eliany Perez Ece Yüksel Jeff Adam Barnas Chengsi Yi and Ashish Sahoo. Makes the work worth doing.

A commentary in Nature Human Behaviour from @RHeersmink makes the case that using LLMs could impair our ability to think critically and write well. He makes a strong and clear case, analogizing LLMs to GPS/calculators. But I think he misses the opportunity... nature.com/articles/s4156…

Can't recommend Steven Weisberg enough for anyone considering grad school! He's an expert in his field, but more importantly, he genuinely cares about his students' growth. Happy to chat about my experiences working with him—feel free to reach out!

🚨New paper alert🚨 tandfonline.com/eprint/APYG6JX… This one's a bit different! Led by stellar PhD candidate Ashley N. Krause who has taught me more about social psychology than anyone else. First - a question: Is a ship a place?

Ashley N. Krause is hard at work developing a dissertation, which will empirically exam these notions of place and place coherence. So stay tuned for some hard data! More examples of things that Steve thinks are places that most other people do not below:
