After long discussions yesterday, fire service employers have confirmed a revised pay offer. 7% backdated to 1 July 2022 and 5% from 1 July 2023. We will consult members on this and will not call strikes during consultation. Further information to follow after Executive Council.

Today we joined together to observe a minute's silence to remember our friend and colleague, Firefighter Barry Martin. Barry died on Friday, 27 January following the injuries he sustained during a large-scale fire in Edinburgh earlier that week.

Locating fires can sometimes be a challenge and lead to a delay in commencing firefighting. By utilising the What3Words application when a call is made to our control room, we can pin point the incident easier, which could allow us to stop the incident escalating. #What3Words

Last night Green watch were training with the newly returned aerial ladder platform, simulating a “sea wall rescue” in which we use our line rescue capabilities in order to perform a rescue on a person who has fallen over the sea well and become trapped.

This evening, green watch performed a “pick off” drill. This can be used operationally to rescue someone who has fallen down a cliff. Nice to see our glorious leader WM Oakley Brian Oakley stuck in too, carrying out the role of the rescuer. Lovely night for it ☀️
