Nothing like the enthusiasm of a medical student interested in surgery to cheer an otherwise exhausting day. We’ll find more interesting things to show Vaishnavi Siripurapu than pulling a surgical drain šŸ˜‚ ECU Brody School of Medicine

Harvard studied heterosexual married couples who both work at least 3 days a week. The study found that stress from work made men terrible partners at home. But women, despite being just as stressed from their day at work, exerted the emotional labor to be supportive at home.

As I stroll on TikTok, I keep seeing parents video their children reacting to The Little Mermaid trailer. So instead of focusing so much on the negative, I thought I’d show a thread of the little black kids who are excited to see their favorite princess look like them.

@AyushKumarMS3 What I find funny about this is we know the human body needs ~ 6-8 hours of sleep/night, every night, to function optimally. Then drs r put into a situation where they can’t get that. It’s absurd. We don’t make pilots do this, why? It’s obvious. But drs sure, go ahead

If you have the chance to read this thread, this is why I don’t fight for more burnout awareness or resilience education. We need system changes. Sometimes unionization helps accomplish that. CIR/SEIU #residentwellness #physiciansuicide

It is also important for our surgeons to reflect our diverse patient and student populations. This is where DEI also becomes important in surgery. Students need to see ā€œthemselvesā€ in leadership and patients need to see ā€œthemselvesā€ as caregivers who can relate to them #AASChat

I don’t usually brag about our residency program, but today I’m gonna make an exception. Like other children’s hospitals, we’re managing a surge in respiratory illness. But unlike most hospitals, we’re gonna pay the residents who work extra overnight/weekend shifts $100/hour.
