Bhomkazi Mhlongo, Coordinator of the Flagstaff Paralegal Advice Office received a Resilience Award on behalf of the #adviceoffice at our #40thanniversary celebration. Their vision is a peaceful, #sustainable community free of abuse, crime, neglect and human rights violations.

Another recipient of a Resilience Award was the Ukhahlamba Legal Advice and Development Agency, (previously Herschel Legal Advice Centre). Coordinator, Sizeka Mavumengwana, received the award at our #40thanniversary. #accesstojustice #GBV awareness #foodsecurity

Western Cape based #scatgrantees gathered for their 1st #firstfriday of 2025 with their Programme Officer, Erna van der Westhuizen. Topics of discussion included turning strategic objectives into programs and projects; joint activity planning and sharing plans for #2025.

Port St Johns Legal Advice Centre was awarded Best Climate Change Project at SCAT’s #40thanniversary celebration. They operate and support approximately eleven #foodgardens in their community. Their Coordinator, Nomboniso Gaya, received the award on behalf of the centre.

Last week, Ukhahlamba Legal Advice Centre, hosted a #humanrights dialogue with community members and stakeholders. Discussion points included no follow-up on cases, the release of perpetrators without informing the community and problems with enforcing protection orders.

Today we remember our beloved colleague Mzolisi Nombewu, whom we lost a year ago. He will always be remembered as someone dear, a team member we could depend on and a man devoted to his work. He was warm, funny and #oneofakind. We still miss him.
