.@ScotGov Chief Economist Gary Gillespie visited Brussels today for engagements focused on our economic links with the EU and the Wellbeing Economy. Gary co-chaired a Wellbeing Economy roundtable w/@WalesinEurope and met with senior European Commission counterparts & CEPS ThinkTank.


Yesterday evening, we hosted our 2025 Summer Reception in Scotland House Brussels. Focusing this year on responsible tourism in partnership with VisitScotland, the event showcased the history and innovative practices of eight sustainable tourist attractions across Scotland.

Scotland’s best future lies as an independent country in the EU. In the meantime, we will continue strengthening ties with European nations and regions. First Minister John Swinney hosted a roundtable with EU Ambassadors at Bute House, to discuss the recent UK-EU deal.


First Minister John Swinney met Minister-President of Flanders Matthias Diependaele at an event to celebrate 25 years of Flemish trade & investment in Scotland. The Government of Flanders and Scottish Government are working together across many sectors including space, energy, tourism & culture.


Climate Action Secretary Gillian Martin visited Brussels this week to chair the annual @climategroup #Under2Coalition European Ministerial meeting. She met with members to discuss the role of nations and regions in shaping international progress on climate action.

Scotland has been at the cutting edge of health technology development for centuries. Today, Scotland will host Life Sciences & Digital Health Day at Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai - showcasing how our proactive approach to collaboration is driving progress in these sectors.



First Minister John Swinney visited the Museum of Childhood. At the visit, he announced £4 million for the Museum Futures Programme. In partnership with Museums Galleries Scotland and The National Lottery Heritage Fund, the programme will help museums innovate and adapt.

We were delighted to welcome Scotland's Trade Envoy for Space, Daniel Smith for a visit to Brussels this week. Daniel participated in the #EuropeanSpaceForum and met with a range of EU, NATO & ASD-Eurospace partners.
