The July weekly close was near its weekly high and portends a challenge next week of the elusive 69 cent barrier. Price resistance has been significant at that level with only very brief attempts to break higher. I continue to suggest growers should be very aggressive sellers

Pretty easy to pick out which of our soybean plots had an insecticide seed treatment and which ones didn’t in our trial at the TN Valley REC. Bean leaf beetles causing defoliation. #ALcrops

Deer depredation to row crops is a #1 problem in many areas of the state. We’re researching options of deer repellents to prevent damage to crops and help farmers to succeed in their business. Thanks to Alfa Farmers W&FG for funding this project. Alabama Extension CSES Auburn University

I recently shared results out of our deer repellents study with one promising solution to deter deer from browsing row crops. The best performing product is from the Weed Science Lab of Dr. Aniruddha Maity at CSES Auburn University. New trials to come!!!

Good turnout at the Crops Scout School at the Tennessee Valley Research and Extension Center today. We were able to record a quick podcast episode too discussing the excessive rainfall and crop planting situation in North AL this year!! Alabama Extension Auburn Agriculture

Been planning this for a long time and enjoyed learning from Drs. Jesse Daystar and Richard Venditti about plastic leakage & microplastic contamination and how polyester contributes so much. Cotton is the superior fiber and the data generated on this should help increase demand!!

Southern corn rust was found in 2 counties in SW Alabama. Orange to light brown tightly clustered oval pustules appear on the upper leaf surface. Spores within the pustules are orange as they rupture through the leaf surface. Rust can reduce yields #Rust #Corn Crop Protection Network
