`assertUnreachable` is an advanced TypeScript technique popularized in a Stack Overflow post by Ryan Cavanaugh ๐ searyanc.dev on bsky (from the TypeScript team). So we thought it'd be cool for Ryan to return to the channel to talk about it! (๐link below๐)

My wild idea to improve the carbon footprint of Climate Pledge Arena is that if you take an umbrella to stay dry instead of driving to the arena, they don't make you throw it away when you get there. Thoughts?

Oh, yeeeeah, this has been merged ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ TS 5.5 is gonna be one of the most epic releases in a while, once again - huge props to Dan Vanderkam ๐ฆ github.com/microsoft/Typeโฆ

Nice writeup of TypeScript's new ability to infer type predicates from Matt Pocock. I'm 0% surprised that Matt beat me to writing a blog post about this :)

TypeScript 5.5 is now available! ๐โจ Now with โ Inferred Type Predicates โ RegEx syntax checks โ The JSDoc @โimport Tag โ ${configDir} for easier tsconfig inheritance โ --isolatedDeclarations โ Lots of new optimizations And more! Try it today! devblogs.microsoft.com/typescript/annโฆ

โจWhat a dream come true!โจ The co-creator of TypeScript himself, Anders Hejlsberg, took some time to look at the Doom project! We also had a chance to chat about other TypeScript topics more broadly - and that video will go live in a few days! DREAM. COME. TRUE.๐

Several of you asked me why TypeScript chose Go instead of C#, and what that decision implies about Microsoft's commitment to C# and .NET. See github.com/microsoft/typeโฆ by Anders Hejlsberg TL;DR nothing has changed. #dotnet #csharp
