#Dyspraxia is often invisible, but the shame isn't. It's in each stare, every impatient sigh. If you're a healthcare provider, please ensure you know enough about dyspraxia and what it co-occurs with including autism, ADHD and mental illness to be patient, validating + helpful.

Today is #DisabilityPayGap day. The day when Disabled workers stop getting paid for the rest of the year. Yet, life costs £1,010 more each month for Disabled households than non-disabled households. We are calling on the Government to END the Disability Pay Gap.

I'm not always good at choosing kindness. I get angry quite easily and it has been a source of guilt. Today, I feel less guilty. Anger is a valid emotion and does not make you a bad person. It's what you choose to do with it that defines you. Now is a good time to be angry.

Department for Work and Pensions This will likely push people off benefits and into programs linked to untrained professionals and work that will not be suitable for all. This is a dangerous game. Especially for those unable to work due to dynamic chronic disabilities & complex needs eg neurodivergence & MH

Catherine (@cedgson91) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Department for Work and Pensions Inactivity is ableist This will harm disabled people esp if programs & work are unsuitable for them Being told by people who don’t know our health history Work is not a health outcome for all Can you be sure that those who “fail” this & still unwell to work will be protected?

Catherine (@cedgson91) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Department for Work and Pensions If you want to address poverty in the disabled community how about you make sure UC & PIP are enough to live on for all! 40% of UC are working, cos wages are too low Energy bills are higher. Disabled ppl have extra costs of £1010 a month! No cuts to benefits either would help too

Catherine (@cedgson91) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Sean Armstrong Department for Work and Pensions This is a concern 😕 It will not work for everyone especially if the trainers have 0 understanding The scheme shouldn’t be introduced without having better providers in place. Unlikely though

Catherine (@cedgson91) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Liz Kendall Department of Health and Social Care Wes Streeting Chronic illnesses/disabilities will not get better! Inactivity is ableist & it seems you are blaming us for the poor economy & you want to get unwell people back to work while cutting their benefits. That is what this plan will do Tying health to work is risky. Not all can work!

Catherine (@cedgson91) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Ah yes continuing what the tories started with more demonising disabled people like M Stride when he proposed PIP to be vouchers🤦🏼 These programs hurt people esp those with neurodiverse & complex needs They will not work for everyone Labour want “savings” (cuts) & every1 working

Catherine (@cedgson91) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The Labour Party Getting disabled people back to work through “programs” that will “help” but in reality will cut/save welfare because apparently we’re worthless & dragging the economy down if we’re not. Fixing foundations shouldn’t be at the expense of vulnerable lives - eg disabled/elderly

#UniversalCredit Managed migration update, more money to accelerate the move as failures continue benefitsandwork.co.uk/news/managed-m…

Sean Armstrong Catherine That's the elephant in the room here, I think. Most of the work available to long term disabled and autistic people does not pay. It also means risking UC and PIP eligibility, while also worsening health and causing burnout.
