This morning Sedbergh School came together in a special assembly to mark the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. 14 @SedberghOS died during the Normandy campaign. Lance Corporal Edward A H Jobes (Powell House 1939 – 41) of the East Yorkshire Regiment died on D-Day itself aged 21.

It was wonderful to welcome such enthusiastic @SedberghEA pupils to the archive this morning. The boys are undertaking private research projects on aspects of Sedbergh School history. I look forward to seeing their presentations later this term.

What a treat yesterday to deliver a lecture on 'Treasures of the Archives' in Cargilfield School school chapel. Headmaster Rob Taylor spoke of the historic links between the two schools and referenced Francis Renton Sedgwick House 1901 - 1905, remembered on memorials in both schools.

Sept 2024 marks the 80th anniversary of Operation Market Garden, the allied offensive into German occupied Netherlands. 18 @SedberghOS were involved in fighting. Ingram Cleasby Lupton Sedbergh 1934-38, is seen below leading the 1st Airlanding Brigade to their drop over Arnhem.



What a treat to share stories from Sedbergh School 's 500 year history with visiting pupils from Sedbergh School Vietnam and Sedbergh School Fuzhou. The pupils are gathering anecdotes to make a video about the ethos of all three Sedbergh Schools, and sharing stories of their own.


'If you go down to the woods today...' you'll find Year 9 enjoying #9Inspire Sedbergh Classics week. Pupils are enjoying a lesson in Akay woods looking at archaeological evidence on the ground. This is complimented by a lesson examining archival primary source material Sedbergh Academic
