It may seem like a normal part of your day: Telling someone they have a new condition, that their loved one is critically ill, or that things are getting worse. But the patient & their family will never forget that moment. Do all you can to make it full of kindness & support 🙏

Turns out if you drink Diet Coke all day and never drink any water it might make you happy but will also make you feel not good. Ask me how I know.

Patients in Appalachia with CAC score 0 and NCP on coronary CTA were more likely to have HTN, HLD, T2DM, higher ASCVD and total Morise scores, and live in rural communities compared to patients with CAC score 0 without NCP Tyler C. Miller, MD Jim Mills Yasmin S. Hamirani, MD Seher Berzingi

📊High rates of discrete NCP (37 %) and adverse CVEs (5.7%) were observed   🩺Risk factors such as HLD, DM, tobacco use, older age, elevated SBP, and higher total CAC scores are associated with NCP. ⚠️Patients with NCP had higher ASCVD and total Morise scores

🏠NCP patients were more likely to live in rural communities (0–5000 people). 🫀NCP presence was an independent risk factor for future adverse CVEs within 2 years (death, MI, CVA). 📝A comprehensive approach to CV risk assessment is needed in rural and high CV regions.
