Class 2’s first adventure of the term was to find lost words on the field which we pieced together to find a message... #backtoschoolcumbria

The message led us to start exploring ‘The Lost Words’ by Robert Macfarlane and we started with the magpie spell. The Lost Words for Cumbria #backtoschoolcumbria

Class 1 started the term by exploring the school field for different trees and enjoyed the story of the Gruffalo. They even made some log pile houses for the snake in the story. #backtoschoolcumbria

Yesterday Y6 led our Harvest Celebration at Selside Church. We shared poems, listened to music and thought about what we are thankful for. We’ve left our poems and prayers in Church for others to enjoy.

Year 6 had a great morning. They completed a range of tasks to make them think about what being a good #leader looks like. They learnt all about geese, why geese are good leaders and worked on various team activities. What new #leadership challenges will tomorrow bring?

This afternoon Class 1 were #scientists. We went exploring on the field, using our observational skills, to find things that were living, dead or have never lived. #lotc

Another great #leadership morning for Y6. We played 'Crocodile Swamp' using teamwork and problem solving to rescue the class sheep and some blindfold games. To finish we joined Lindale School on a video call where we all shared what we had learnt about being a good #leader.

In #outdoorlearning Class 1 were artists! We looked at Andy Goldsworthy’s Land Art which uses natural materials. We worked together to gather our own natural objects to create patterns & shapes. To finish, we followed our sculpture trail to share and celebrate our creations.

Lots of giggles this afternoon as our new Playtime Leaders organised a game of wink murder. I wonder what they’ll play tomorrow? #leadership #friendship #ruralschool #teamwork #playgroundgames
