Wonderful to join Columbia veterans & others in this great town for their July 4th parade—under spectacularly sunny skies. Thanks to the Lions & all who participated.

Rollicking, raucous Boom Box Parade in Willimantic was a true July 4th joy. Proud & grateful to participate again, with special thanks to Grand Marshal Wayne Norman & WILI-AM.

As Putin intensifies his aerial reign of terror, Trump must seize the moment to show that America will not be mocked by his murderous double talk. Send weapons—indeed double down. Approve our bone crushing Russia Sanctions bill—hopefully w/a Senate vote

As heartbreakingly tragic flooding strikes Texas, & FEMA relief efforts begin, the agency again is showing its mettle & worth. It should be supported as it does this vital work. washingtonpost.com/nation/2025/07…

As Netanyahu visits this week, there’s clearly an opportunity for progress—a moment to move toward peace—made possible by historic advances against Iran’s toxic ambitions & assets, & its terrorist proxies. The world is watching.

Even as severe weather hits communities countrywide, the Trump Admin makes us vulnerable to natural disasters by understaffing the National Weather Service. Preparing for severe weather saves money & lives. Undermining it is stupid & cruel. theguardian.com/us-news/2025/j…

With this Big Blatant Betrayal, Republicans have failed to recognize our responsibility to working families. This rollback’s ripple effect will be the rising price of food, energy, housing, health care&more. All to provide tax cuts to the ultra rich. This fight is far from over.

Only because of blistering backlash—from vets, VSO’s, Congress&others—has VA abandoned its cruel plan for cutting 83,000 employees. Its new plan to force out 30,000 public servants by creating a toxic workplace is also unconscionable&will harm veterans’ access to care&benefits.

Trump’s words are welcome—saying Ukraine arms shipments will resume—but only clear, prompt action will dispel doubts & save lives. Ukrainians need robust aid—right away—against Putin’s murderous aerial reign of terror. Support for our Russia Sanctions bill is vital too.

Shutting down the Job Corps, as the Dept of Labor is trying to do, is cruel & stupid. It hurts CT’s young people like Troy & Nahjayiah who are trying to develop the skills our economy needs & it undermines local businesses. We won’t stop fighting to protect the Job Corps.

Summer weather is getting warmer every year & workers are at increased risk. The time is now for OSHA to finalize much needed rules to prevent heat related injury, illness & death. Employers need to protect their workers with these commonsense measures.

Sec. Collins is touting a new plan—lose 30K dedicated VA workers, 1/3 of them veterans. Sound familiar? It’s a different number with the same effect—endangering & degrading care & benefits. That 30K includes doctors, nurses & others essential to VA services.

Time for Hegseth to go. Reportedly, he stopped Ukraine military aid without consulting the President—a rogue & reprehensible breach of responsibility. Add it to a series of serious national security breaches. cnn.com/2025/07/08/pol…

I spoke on the Senate Floor, because losing 30K dedicated VA workers will be deeply damaging & dangerous to care & benefits. Sec. Collins pulled back his plan to cut 83K employees because of our blistering blowback. Thank you vets & VSO’s.
