Yesterday, I was honored to deliver my farewell speech on the Senate floor. It has been the privilege of my life to serve the First State, and our country. I’d like to leave you all with this: keep on rockin' in the free world!

Twelve years ago today, 26 lives were tragically taken from Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT.   As elected officials, we have a moral obligation to end gun violence in this country. We must work together to find solutions and build a safer nation for all Americans.

Martha and I had a wonderful time at Delaware State University Scholarship Ball where we celebrated our collective hard work to make DSU the competitive HBCU it is today! Hornets Rising!

It’s hard to describe the kind of friend John was. When we were both Congressmen, he introduced me to Martha. We were married four months later, he gave me my best friend. John was kind, witty, & willing to work across the aisle. He taught me many things & will be dearly missed.

The Water Resources Development Act just passed the Senate 97-1. I'm grateful to all my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for their work getting this legislation to the finish line, and I thank Shelley Moore Capito for naming it in my honor.
