Some insights: Most negative reviews are people who hated the ending. Which is fine, a divisive ending is always a good sign. Like 20 years ago, press pretty much disliked or was indifferent about the game. Depressing scores all around on that front. It's really Scratches 2.0.

A developer is recreating the Scratches engine (SCream) as fully open source, which is really cool. This could pave the way for widescreen support and more modern features. It's all being documented in our Discord gamedev channel: discord.gg/pyMCgBV2W3

A curious and rather poignant milestone: ASYLUM now has as many Steam reviews as Scratches, and is currently rated higher than its predecessor. Akin to the slow-burning horror of these stories, seems like the game has a long digital shelf life ahead. The circle is complete.
