Not only did vaccinating based on social justice and equity goals put seniors at risk, it misled Americans about who was at high risk from Covid. Many of us criticized this decision at the time, and DeSantis took a lot of flak when he went against the CDC and vaccinated seniors

Good Ideas Require Testing: The Lessons of the NUDGE CKD Trial. Policy interventions can affect more people than specific treatments; they should also have to pass muster in randomized trials open.substack.com/pub/sensibleme… via John Mandrola, MD

I’m super optimistic about Vinay Prasad MD MPH having important roles in regulatory decisions A) He’s literally the smartest MD I’ve met B) He’s been a clinician C) He has common sense (a Hoosier once) D) Isn’t optimism better than pessimism?

Very nice video! Congratulations to Vinay Prasad MD MPH for his nomination as the U.S. FDA’s Chief Medical and Scientific Officer, in addition to his position as the FDA Biologics Director, this is huge news ! Great decision Dr. Marty Makary 👍

People are getting upset about this, but the topic is not the core issue. The entire family of JAMA journals is increasingly filled with low-quality observational studies. I suspect that the root cause is poor peer review.

Paul Sax Counterpoint: IDSA could probably produce a better guideline at a fraction of the cost. We manage fine without any USG guidelines in cardiology.

I can come up with many great ideas to spend 100 million dollars of doctor’s hard earned money. Instead it goes to a corrupt organization that keeps getting richer. We did this to ourselves and we can’t seem to stop it.

JAMA is cooked. Just propaganda at this point. Used to be a respectable journal. So many problems and medicine these days. Really need to burn the system down and start over. Too many sellouts. Too much perversion of incentives.

Proof ABIM doesn’t even believe their own research! If ABIM truly thought LKA/MOC saved lives they wouldn’t have the “grandfather” rule. Yet they do!

Haven't listened to whole 4hr interview, but this clip/quotes are đź’Ż: "The right solution is change the incentives of science so that we engage in pro-social behavior, meaning behavior that rewards truth rather than rewards volume & influence alone" Pro-social=data sharing, etc

Marketing Disguised as Science Embarrasses Everyone Involved My take of the JAMA Internal Medicine study from ABIM is now up Sensible Medicine Empirical study of ABIM-branded med education is doable. But not with flawed observational study. Critical appraisal lessons abound 1/n ->
