An independent review of the domestic abuse guideline shows it’s working well for sentencers. But we’ve identified some changes to make the guideline easier to use and reflect the seriousness of domestic abuse when it’s present in a wider range of offences bit.ly/4ir3GY1

Victims of strangulation or suffocation can experience extreme terror and a real fear of death. Today the Council is publishing a new guideline to ensure sentences are appropriate and reflect the seriousness of these offences. Comes into effect 1 January: bit.ly/3VJ7zOt
