Northern lights just now from Bryher, Isles of Scilly despite some cloud cover.

A nice sunny visit to New Passage produced a Spotted Redshank, 90+ Knot, 50+ Black-tailed Godwits, a Greenshank, 2 Bar-tailed Godwits, 240 Redshank, 120 Oycs, 300 Dunlin, 6 Pintail, 160 Wigeon, lots of Teal and a flighty Water Pipit.

Having gotten my ear in on Scilly, very pleased to join the patch Yellow-browed Warbler club with one calling then eventually seen well at Aust STW. Bonus 2 Hawfinch and a Brambling over Aust Services with 6 Barnacle Goose scoped towards Littleton Warth made for a lovely morning

An evening dog walk on the sea wall at Severn Beach a few days ago. The low cloud was illuminated by the bridge lights producing a fake aurora.

It is not often I that I am tempted off the patch but this male Desert Wheatear just 20 miles away from home at Somerdale playing fields in Keynsham got the better of me this morning.

Back in May 1992 I dashed off to Rickmansworth on the M25 to see my 1st Cattle Egret, a flock of eight, a very rare sighting at that time. Now just 33 years later it is an established breeder in southern England. This bird today on Pilning Wetland was our 5th record of the year.
