#OTD in 1865, President Abraham Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth in Ford’s Theatre. A few blocks away in Lafayette Square, Lewis Powell attempted to assassinate Secretary William Seward in his home. Seward was injured in the attack, but ultimately would make a full recovery.

This afternoon, we welcomed Governor Kathy Hochul and city officials to the Seward House Museum. The Governor was in Auburn to review DRI projects, including the SHM’s Barn and Carriage House Project.
