Why must principled staff have to take action about mental health waiting lists? Why should safe mental health care in Manchester be merely an “ambition”? Would ⁦NHS England⁩ settle for the same about medical care? Talk and settle ⁦Greater Manchester Mental Health⁩ bbc.com/news/articles/…

“We don’t know if doctors’ pensions are being considered as part of this plan, but we will have serious concerns if they are… It would be neither fair nor reasonable to suggest that our loss in pay can be addressed by further raiding our pensions.” Vishal Sharma responds to

Blurring the lines between doctors and physician associates is a serious risk to patient safety. So it’s welcome news that Anaesthetists United legal challenge, which we are supporting, will proceed to a full High Court hearing.

Using an aviation analogy, planes piloted by cabin crew is acceptable? Everyone has their role in the team. But expertise & mastership (the ability to improvise & innovate in response to the complex, unexpected & emergency) come only from specific extensive training & experience.

This is not going to be feasible. Stand by for a sequestering of staff pay and conditions, in a service where most expenditure is pay it’s simply night following day. Funding is a political choice, do not subsidise with your pay! bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

These extra-contractual rates at Kings College Hospital are appalling. The impact on patients of unfilled locum shifts is real. If you are a doctor living in London you can get actively involved in the campaign here - forms.office.com/pages/response…

GPs in England are taking collective action. This is a pivotal moment for us to unite for a safe, sustainable and stronger NHS. So our new webpage outlines how secondary care colleagues may be affected and ways they can support GPs in this campaign. bma.org.uk/our-campaigns/…

The DDRB's report to government is late and this puts vital pay reforms at risk. We have today written to Wes Streeting asking him to: 📢 Publish the report immediately upon receipt 🤝Enter good-faith negotiations if recommendations fall short Doctors deserve fair pay and action

Just heard BBC Today Henry Zeffman saying NHS Pay Review Body likely to recommend about 3%. RPI is currently 3.2%. All eyes on the DDRB. We need roughly 14% to recover vs RPI over three years and 8% against even CPI as a staging post.

Morning! The Government response on the DDRB will be out very soon. Private sector pay is rising at roughly 6%. Inflation (RPI) is 3.2%. Here’s a table of how long pay restoration would take depending on pay increase given. 1/2

And here are the pay graphs in general. Remember, government decides what services it wants & whether it pays for them by borrowing or taxation, at the moment the borrowing is coming from the workforce, your pocket, not all 68 million tax payers who use the service. 2/2

Anyone seen the DDRB report yet (due in time for April pay packet), or how about the fact that government put economic context and what we believe could be interpreted as limits in the remit letter (which the agreement said should not have been in there). Get ready!

4% increase on the day of 4.5% inflation is the train in reverse. Think again. Our pay still needs 29% uplift to get it back to 2008 levels. People are retiring now & taking these losses for the whole of their retirement. Pressure is needed & you need to be part of it.
