Did you know PowerPoint can do real-time transcription? Recently taught a summer school group of Chinese students and thought I'd help them out by turning it on. They loved it. I highly recommend to other profs. People got used to Netflix with subtitles, so why not lectures too?

Madeleine joins other new arrivals to Cambridge Judge last term, Professors Elizabeth George and Prithviraj Chattopadhyay, who seem to have already found their feet and many new friends in Cambridge! #CJBSLife

Recent media coverage highlights the critical role of aid work, such as in the current Hamas-Israel conflict or the war in Sudan. Yet, a vital aspect often overlooked is how aid workers cope themselves. We try to address this question in this forthcoming manuscript JMS

“... silence may be golden when it comes to maintaining the composure that is required for carrying out work in extreme contexts. Silence serves as a collective pact that communicates without expressing or articulating how one feels about a brutal situation” Shaz Ansari

Thanks Mike. Cambridge University's forced retirement policy is ageist discrimination & no different to sexism, racism & ableism. It is unlawful under the Equality Act (it fails its own justification). Cambridge didn't accept women until 1948. Time to abolish ageism in Cambridge

A short thread on Prof Mary Beard's recent article in @theguardian on enforced retirement (EJRA, Employer Justified Retirement Age) at 67 in Cambridge in which those opposing the policy are called 'job-blockers'. You can find it here 👇 theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
