Can't actually believe what I am hearing on Drivetime RTE - the alcohol industry v a liver expert on health risks of alcohol...would they get the tobacco industry on to extol virtues of cigarettes? Not in the public interest to allow corporate interests deny consumer rights.

Dr Tony Holohan hits the nail on the head. There is a vast body of evidence for the merits of introducing alcohol health info labels. Would RTÉ give equal time to a climate expert & climate change denier in the interests of 'balance'? 🤔 Drivetime RTE linkedin.com/posts/drtonyho…

AlcoholActionIreland Listening to the Alcohol Industry over the past week and their objections to the labelling and their absolute belief that it will not work has me confused. If it will not work then why are they so opposed to it , logically they should be saying nothing and clapping their hands .

Another letter to Micheál Martin urging Ireland to stay the course on alcohol labels. Balance North East works to reduce harm from alcohol: to health, families & society; the alcohol industry works to enrich their shareholders. Who will the Taoiseach listen to? alcoholireland.ie/wp-content/upl…

So many similarities here to alcohol lobby playbook including dismissing the scientific evidence about the harms from their products.

New research by Social Sciences ConneXions & Queen's University Belfast 🎓 shows 4 in every 5 people support alcohol health information labelling. The public consistently tell politicians they want labels as is their right as consumers #stickwithlabels Micheál Martin Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD riviste.unimi.it/index.php/ebph…

AAI's latest report outlines the significant body of research suggesting a complex relationship between sport, alcohol consumption & domestic violence. We need to change cultural norms around alcohol & sport. It's time to ban alcohol sport sponsorship. alcoholireland.ie/press-release-…

People have a right to know the risks from consuming alcohol. It is Govt's duty to protect people's health, not alc industry profits. The price of backtracking on labels will be more people being told 'you have cancer' #stickwithlabels #EWAC2025 Micheál Martin Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD

Excellent paper examining the well coordinated global industry arguments against Ireland’s alcohol labelling regulations. Same arguments still being rehashed but facts remain the same, 4 deaths every day from alcohol. #StickWithLabels Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD …balizationandhealth.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…
