Can you rejuvenate an old brain by giving it young immune cells? 🧠 My lab Calico put it to the test. In our new study, we replaced the brain's immune cells in old mice with young ones. The result? The old brain environment forced the young cells to age RAPIDLY. A 🧵👇

I think this paper has some major flaws, and nobody should stop taking their anti-hypertensives out of concern for increasing AMD risk. However, I do like how they try to move from association to causal mechanism using Mendelian Randomization AND animal models.

Dozens of U.S. PhD programs in physics, astronomy, and biology are admitting few or no students after Trump’s funding freezes and political pressure on universities. The future of America’s research pipeline is undeniably at risk.
