Don't wait for a long stretch of free time to open up to work on that novel, script, film, album. And certainly don't wait for permission. Or a commission to work on your art. Start now. The rest will follow.

Creators: not feeling it today? Imagine if doctors and nurses didn't show up when they weren't in the mood. Or if people only took away rubbish or drove buses and trains when inspired to. Then do your work. Write, play, design, make art. Because what you make.. matters.

You don't need fancy kit to start writing. A pen and paper will do. But if you're serious about it, you might want more. I've earned my living as a writer for more than 30 years. Here are my best tools, in 2023. 👇🧵

Your creativity can make a difference. But only if you put it out there. Finish the work. Show the work. Ship the work. This is the way.

Quantity produces quality. When it comes to creative work, whatever you're bad at, whatever you're afraid of, do more of it. You'll get better. It gets easier. You will become good enough. Providing you do it often enough.

A short message for anyone who needs it today: You are good enough. You are ready. Make the work. Share the work. And you'll get even better. That is all.

Choose hope. Choose joy. Choose creation. The world needs beauty. Now, more than ever.
