Factcheck: 18 misleading myths about heat pumps | Jan Rosenow #CBarchive Read here: buff.ly/3XboSsQ

The The Telegraph keeps spreading misinformation about heat pumps this time in an article by Robert Taylor. Many of his claims are not supported by evidence as I set out in great detail in this Carbon Brief long read: carbonbrief.org/factcheck-18-m…

The Climate Change Committee's annual progress report is out and 5 of their 10 main recommendations are about heat. That's because progress has been so dire 🧵😬.

"Achieving Net Zero with Heat Pumps" is a short video from Global Systems Institute University of Exeter which talks about the potential for a positive tipping point towards the wider adoption of heat pumps. youtu.be/or1iqpPsZuo

One pushback against heat pumps in the UK is that they don't work well in cold countries. Contrary to this, some of the Nordic countries have amongst the highest uptake of the technologies. Jan Rosenow's guest blog for Carbon Brief explores this success: tinyurl.com/mt8jj5vy

Myths and outright nonsense about heat pumps continue to get spread through traditional and social media. Read my comprehensive heat pump myth buster for Carbon Brief carbonbrief.org/factcheck-18-m…

Policy@Exeter put together a case study of the work we did on the SHIFFT Project Sustainable Heating and Technology to apply a co-creation methodology to developing city low carbon heating strategies. You can read it at tinyurl.com/y7brfjmp

Great news! University of Exeter awarded £8.6 million for new low carbon heating systems to reduce its fossil fuel use. The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero funding, from the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme, will replace 29 gas boilers across 8 buildings at Exeter’s Streatham and St Luke’s campuses.
