#ChildPoverty in California is now higher than pre-#pandemic levels This reflects the end of the #ChildTaxCredit, #CalFresh Emergency Allotments, more adequate #PandemicEBT benefits, and other aid while costs have risen and #wages have not kept up

Already large and unacceptable racial & ethnic inequities grew: 22% of Black and fully 1 in 4 Latine families experienced #poverty, nearly double the poverty rate for white families (13.6%) Policy interventions must center dismantling #SystemicRacism

#Poverty increased for all racial and ethnic groups but spiked to 13.6% for American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander & multiracial Californians: Limited access to resources & #COVID effects disproportionately harm Indigenous and multiracial communities

Meanwhile, income inequities remain staggering: - the wealthiest 1% earned $1,208,478 - That is 14 times the $89,300 median income, and - 67 times the lowest income Californians of $18,170 - a single adult + child need $100k according to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) #LivingWage
