10 interviews out of 427 applications, after what most of us would think an amazing 34 papers in postdoc. The academic dream is "only for a select few" who have more patience than passion. To put it in perspective, that's 42 weeks of just making applications (4 hr/app, 40 hr wk).

A PhD is a certification that you have gained the knowledge and skill set needed to be successful in one of many sets of career options. It is not a status symbol. It does not make you better than anyone else.
