It was lovely to put meet many members of our William Farr Academy this weekend. They were attending the excellent Concord College concordcollegeuk.com/whats-on/medic… for school students considering a career in Medicine.

I’m so glad to see that helped Charles Darwin in his studies. Both from Salop. Darwin worked in Salop Infirmary with his father Dr Robert Darwin a year before Farr studied there. Both later in life led to giant leaps in scientific understanding. darwinproject.ac.uk/letter/DCP-LET…

I visited Condover church today as part of my research on William Farr & was lucky to hear the organ being played. Farr’s guardian Joseph Pryce was buried here. Above the door there is a plaque highlighting gifts he and his brother gave to the poor of the Parish.
