Who or What am I? Answer: Leaf cutter bee. You will know they have been working if you see sections roughly semi-circular, neat edged and uniform in size cut from a leaf. She carries the piece of leaf slung between her legs. I watched one working by the pond platform yesterday.

Who or What am I? Hint 1: One of the most common butterflies. You may spot it flying on even an overcast day, for their dark wings absorb sunlight effectively, helping to keep them active. Second hint at noon.

Who or What am I? Hint 2: Of Medium size, mainly brown with small orange patches on the forewings. One eyespot on the forewing with only one small white ‘pupil’. The females, less active, have brighter wings than the males who patrol their territory. Answer here at 8pm

Who or What am I? Answer: meadow brown The caterpillars eat a wide range of grasses & among plants for nectar are Knapweed, Bramble and Thistle. The scientific name comes from their eye-spots once being seen as the devil keeping an eye on people. photo from butterfly conservation

Sweet chili halloumi wrap, a great lunch for a warm day. Feel free to use chicken or change the type of wraps (as I did) - it's your lunch after all. The recipe is on our website shropshirehillsdiscoverycentre.co.uk/recipes

Who or What am I? Hint 1: a pioneer species with white flowers, diminutive, bilateral and snapdragon-like, mostly visited by bumblebees. You may also need the noon hint to help you decide.

Who or What am I? Hint 2: It has a square stem and narrowly spear-shaped leaves that are toothed and covered in soft hairs with no sting. It is swollen and spiky at the nodes. You may also need to look at the morning hint to help you decide. Answer here at 8pm.

Who or What am I? Answer: Hemp nettle. To me this plant looks a bit exotic. Its Latin name, Galeopsis, means weasel which is what they thought the petals of the flower resembled – the snout of the weasel maybe?

Our volunteer team collected yellow rattle seed. It's laborious work, but well worth it as the seed will be sown in areas where we don't have rattle growing. This incredible plant reduces vigorous grasses and paves the way for other wildflower species to take hold.
