There's no gentle way to say this without just saying it, so: The collapse of Hollywood is 100% due to the steadfast refusal of Los Angeles leadership to legalize more housing. They slit their own throats, and now they want a band-aid.

the incredulous replies to this ("why is this in the WSJ?") strikes me as what happens when newspapers go digital. major newspapers have long had a "style & fashion" section, clearly marked in print. you would not be surprised to find sports in the sports section.

It’s actually amazing how rare good oratory is in politics—particularly Democratic politics. The Romans would be appalled to see a republic explicitly modeled on theirs that so devalues oratorical skill and passion But there’s lots of articulate people out there!

We really don’t talk about Palm Springs (2020) enough. Smart, funny, and unexpectedly moving take on the time loop genre that deserves more love.

Not just used but GROWN for months in a nutrient rich gel in the shape of the gown that was kept in specific constant conditions as commentary on how we must begin to care for our clothes to protect our environment

Would be cool if you could open the credits on Spotify, click on a producer’s name and be sent to a bunch of the songs he’s produced, all on one page.

Turning film criticism into a % score has got to go down as one of the most harmful things to happen in film history. Film criticism isn't meant to confirm or reject your biases, expectations or hopes for a movie. Nor is it a strict objective measurement system. (1/5)
