I model the environment. And I must say, this season's environment is a particularly fine collection.

Guys. GUYS. Do you use QGIS and persistently struggle with it randomly hanging in use? I just fixed this after literally 10y of tolerating it for no reason. It can't just be me. HIDE YOUR NETWORK DRIVES. In Browser box, right click all but C:, "Hide from browser". Life-changing.

🚨ATTENTION! A small asteroid is expected to safely impact the French-English channel in ~4 hours time, 03:00:03 UT tomorrow. Object size is around ~1 meter and should appear as bright as the Moon momentarily as it enters the atmosphere. Approx visibility circle posted below. 1/

Hydrogeology twitter I need your help! This "leak" started 6 months ago and water has been pouring out since, even after the driest hottest 2 weeks in June. Scottish Water analysed the water: it's groundwater. Should we be worried a spring just appeared on the road? 1/2

Hi Cardiff Council: an initiative like this is essential & wd be self-funding along Whitchurch Road by the Colonies. Multiple cars pass at dangerous speeds (>40mph) whenever there is less traffic on the road. Our excellent councillors Rhys & Ashley Wood will confirm.

Making this model landslide reproduce very slight movement was actually pretty difficult. Inside the model “hill” is very frictionally weak material, representing a sandstone-capped anticline with a shale core. Real -life analog is high wall mining along a shale-cored slope.

I am hiring! I am looking for a PhD student to work with myself, Christoff Andermann, Micha Dietze and Niels Hovius to study the connectivity between groundwater, surface water, and sediment yield. The job will involve code development and field work in the beautiful Eifel mountains.

Long shot request: anyone aware of an open access pre-calculated surface slope raster for UK/England? In a perfect world, ~10m, but other scales welcome!

There are no stationary objects in the Universe: even our Solar System is moving not only around the center of the Galaxy (828,000 km/h) but also relative to its nearest stellar neighbors (70,000 km/h) [🎞️ starwalkapp] x.com/tuidelescriban…
