July 22, 1932 The Norfolk Daily reports that while Buster Keaton was away boating, his dog, Elmer, wandered off and "became notorious in a fight with a Culver City canine and landed in jail, the town having no pound. Elmer ate at the rate of three dollars' worth of meat a day."

Looking forward to it! I recall reading an anecdote about the making of "Intolerance"--during the Babylon battle scenes, danger even came from fellow extras, who were a little too into their roles of throwing debris from the high palace walls...

Actor Maurice Costello, stage star and one of the earliest "matinee idols" (he entered films in 1908). He apparently confounded the Vitagraph studio by insisting on ONLY working as an actor, not doing double duty as a carpenter or prop man as was expected.
