NHS employers need to urgently support migrant and ethnic minority staff, including those facing racism from patients. BMA members, we're reminding you all to support each other - accompany vulnerable colleagues to and from work if needed. Remember, there is strength in numbers.

I was born here but this weekend it didn’t feel like home and I know so many who felt the same. Guess we’ll all just go to work like normal Monday morning.πŸ’”

Three white men from across the political spectrum from far right to right wing come together to sneer, ridicule and talk over a woman of colour MP for making perfectly reasonable points and the fact that two of them are gay men is not lost on me!

For many NHS staff, the recent racist violence in this country will leave them feeling afraid and unwelcome. To those colleagues, our message is simple: you are welcome and you are valuable members of our community. Reach out for support if you need it. england.nhs.uk/supporting-our…

NHS staff across the country are, as always, playing their part in response to this week's riots. But we shouldn’t let dedication to duty disguise the fact that seeing this flare-up of racism will leave many colleagues feeling afraid and unwelcome. ➑️ england.nhs.uk/2024/08/statem…

I’m really going to need our institutions to talk up, and quickly, about what’s happening across Britain. What measures are we taking to support people right now? The blatant racism and Islamophobia is loud ! We need more than the β€˜Black Squares’ of the 2020!

Calling all leaders to consider and reevaluate their support systems in place - are they TARGETED and INDIVIDUALISED for those from protected characteristics who are going through particularly more challenging times than usual right now? RCSLT πŸ’™

Black and Brown people, I think a lot of us are far more triggered by what’s happening than we realise If you need to disconnect from it all please do This is quite a lot and I don’t know if we’re all grasping how much this is impacting our health

Why do organisations explicitly avoid calling out Islamophobia? Language is important, and avoiding the term is part of the problem. Media rhetoric consistently paints Muslims as the "bad guys". This daily narrative impacts Muslims and contributes to the issues we see today.

I keep on coming back here to check what institutions have said about the racist and Islamophobic violence across England … still nothing from particular organisations. It’s noted .

Going into work feeling very deflated today. I’m a black man. I work with people from various ethnic minorities in a London borough. The far right are supposed lot β€œprotesting” in my home town tomorrow..

What is really alarming and upsetting is to read a statement that centres the feelings of a white individual in a position of power, as opposed to acknowledging the valid anxieties and worries of many POC members, regardless of whether the following of a fascist was accidental
