It is absolutely bizarre to hear SCOTUS debating the risk of TikTok *potentially* manipulating Americans' opinions against the US government when we are currently living with the consequences of Facebook and other social platforms actually having been used to do that very thing

Justice Jackson's cowrie shell collar is making a statement. I don't know for sure, but given the shell is full of significance in African spirituality - seen as bringing good fortune and warding off negative energy - gotta suspect there was some conscious choice here

Senator Angela Alsobrooks This type of thinking is why Black women go to hospitals and don’t receive as much pain relief as other people because there is a belief that Black women can tolerate more pain. RFK Jr is repeating some very racist talking points that continue to dehumanize Black people.

Everyday, I wonder how disappointed my grandparents would be that we are having to fight the same fights that they thought they'd already won

So....suddenly, we can understand how bird flu causes the price of eggs to jump. But a few months ago, the notion that a global pandemic caused global inflation was completely lost on us? K.

So we're dismantling aid to African countries left impoverished by centuries of colonization, human trafficking and resource exploitation -- and then calling the white landowners there refugees. Are we allowed to call this what it is yet: white supremacy? washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/…

This is dangerous propaganda pushed to sew animosity among white folks & recruit them to Elon's white supremacist agenda. This video is years old & the chant is rooted in the anti-Apartheid movement of decades ago. Elon is trying to reignite old racial divisions. Don't let him

Having served as a Moscow correspondent in the early days of Putin's reign, this reminds me of how the Kremlin took over its own press pool and made sure that only compliant journalists were given access.

"DEI" has become a racially disparaging term used to malign successful Black ppl. If journos can't use the word "racist" to describe racist acts of our gov, then we shouldn't use "DEI" to whitewash them. The term shifts the problem from racist actors to the targets of those acts

Philosopher Jason Stanley leaving Yale for Canada “because of the political climate” should set off serious alarm bells. "Brain drain" is just a sanitized phrase meaning the flight of conscience and intellect from a country where probing at truths becomes a dangerous task.

The Trump admin's actions to erase our past are nothing new. But when we talk about historical efforts to whitewash slavery, we call the actions "racist"/"white supremacist." Why not this time? Were the United Daughters of the Confederacy just "anti-DEI"? washingtonpost.com/investigations…

worth remembering that when Trump announced a travel ban in 2017, people literally went to airports to protest. Eight years later, Trump announces a new one and it's not even front page news. We're the frogs and the water is getting awfully hot.
