ON THIS DAY | In 1991, 21-year-old Finnish student Linus Torvalds wrote a newsgroup post about a free operating system he was working on. He said it was “just a hobby, won’t be big and professional like gnu.” His OS would eventually be called Linux. #OnThisDay

Saw this from pcbhero on Linked in: linkedin.com/posts/annie-zh… It's just a small mirror and lens to shift the perspective. Then by rotating you get an interesting 3d inspection around a part. I wonder how easy it would be to attach to my stereo microscope.. 🤔

Making hardware here has become even more painful. Ordered a few components from Mouser and just found that I need to register with the govt, and do more paperwork. And this is valid only for 75 days. imports.gov.in/MEITY/public/h…

Very happy to tell you about a project Sivaprakash and I have been working on: Mico is an open source PDM to USB microphone based on the Raspberry Pi RP2040 chip. I've written about the project here: electronut.in/mico/ I'll also summarize in a thread below. (1/6)

.Sivaprakash and I are designing some easy to assemble PMODs. (Through-hole parts, breakout boards.) Not planning to manufacture. Once tested, I'll publish the design files. #FPGA

A sneak peek🙂. Hopefully I can show you a working board in a couple of weeks. (Humble iCE: Lattice iCE40UP5k + Raspberry Pi RP2040 budget FPGA dev board). Kicad work by Sivaprakash

Quick update on our Lattice Semiconductor iCE40UP5k Humble iCE FPGA dev board. Sivaprakash and I reduced BOM cost further by using xtal + clk_gpout from Raspberry Pi RP2040. Still working on RP firmware using the C SDK. Going to make small batch of boards soon.

Been messing around with #Blender3d and #Photoshop to create these. The landscapes and backgrounds were created in Blender while the foregrounds were added on the render using Photoshop. The new Cycles engine is really cool.
