20y of dedication/perseverance by Jean-Paul Pirnay , Maya Merabishvili & team to make #phagetherapy a reality. A good moment to say thank you for our 30th joint publication.

Happy to share the link to our recent review on "Pseudomonas aeruginosa Bacteriophages and Their Clinical Applications" mdpi.com/2850784 #mdpiviruses käyttäen Viruses MDPI

Delighted to share that next February I will join London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine to lead the Faculty of Infectious and Tropical Diseases. Honored to join a world leading University to contribute towards a healthy, sustainable, and equitable world for everyone. Exciting times for the Bengoechea lab!

📢 Historic day for Portugal and phage therapy! 🇵🇹 A framework was approved, allowing magistral preparation of personalized phage products. 🙌 Grateful to Jean-Paul Pirnay, my group Azeredo Lab Portuguese patients, and doctors who signed a petition inspired by the Belgium model.

I'm excited to announce our latest publication! We teamed up with Karthik Hullahalli to barcode Klebsiella and ask basic questions about bacteremia pathogenesis: 1) how are bacteria shared between sites and 2) which host and bacterial factors influence dynamics? nature.com/articles/s4146…

The discussions after both my oral and poster presentations were friendly and thought-provoking. I gained incredible inspiration from the work being done by Mikael Skurnik and our discussions after the talk.

Just heard an inspiring talk by Mikael Skurnik on his decades-long journey with Yersinia phages. From the early days of sequencing a phage by primer walking, (costing ~€50K!) to pioneering insights that shaped the field. A true phage veteran! 🦠📚 #phage #Yersinia
