James Doherty ArdaraDistillery I was at Lagg the other week and they reckoned the turf they used had basically terroir, and was different to that on Islay. Have yous any thoughts on that

James Doherty (@jamessliabhliag) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Aidan ArdaraDistillery I think there are terroir effects from the turf, just as there are in grain. Our experience - type of milling, fermentation regime (grain in for us) and distilling approach especially cut points have more important impact on flavour so I would argue savoir faire trumps terroir

Investment freeze, tariff threats and distillery closures: Is the Irish whiskey revival over? businesspost.ie/companies/inve…

Brian Redden (@brianredden72) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Bill Linnane I’m going to say no. It’s a winnowing down to the strong ones who produce great liquid or have solid fundamentals vs ones who don’t do one or the other. There’s too many people outside the island that love what many brands do

Bill Linnane (@bill_linnane) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Brian Redden I think the revival part is over, the frantic rush to get distilleries built has passed, a few will close and not reopen and a natural level will be found, poss 25-35ish? TBH I think it is less about liquid or stories or work and just more about good financing and good timing.

Brian Redden (@brianredden72) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Bill Linnane I believe your take on the “revival“ is probably correct and that there will be some natural level found. I think a lot of finding that level will have to do with quality of product and narrative around those products. Obviously quality product and messaging fuels revenue.
