About to finish "Dog of the South" by Charles Portis. He is such a madman in the best way, and it's clear why the Cohen Bros. wanted to adapt one of his books.

I’m not sure if there is one damn thing that I was once so certain of that I now still believe.

Reading isn’t homework. We need to remind people that unwinding with a good book is an incredible act of leisure.

Doing difficult things brings with it a sense of accomplishment. Pride. Meaning. "Writing" a book with AI robs the process itself of anything that could actually reward the "writer." How could one even attach themselves to such a project?

I need to drive aimlessly around Texas for a while.

Is there an art form where creating something of very high quality takes longer than writing a novel?

I'm currently reading Masters of Atlantis by Charles Portis, and I have to say, satire is so necessary. Our world is rife with unserious people playacting at being deadly serious. Do we have good satire right now that lampoons people from both sides of the political spectrum?

Alicia Keys has the most soothing speaking voice I think I've ever heard. I could listen to her read Xerox repair instructions.

Not sure what caused the spike in people buying digital copies of my book and listing it as “want to read.” Was it my appearance on The Dad Lit Pod (est. 2025)? Who knows. I’m just glad it’s happening.

As a resident of Indiana and a fan of Portis, I think I need to start calling myself a Hoosier Wizard to flush out the other Masters of Atlantis fans.
