Thank you to everyone that made the Newman Smith High School Basketball Banquet a HUGE success! An AMAZING senior class that won over 90 games, another postseason appearance in ‘23-‘24, and quality player development at all 3 levels are definitely worth a banquet to celebrate! Go Trojans!

This week, Trojan basketball joined other Smith athletes on a jog through neighborhoods to pick up trash. They showed a servant’s heart by competing w/ joy & smiles to fill bags. They represented Trojan Nation well & helped to make our community just a little bit more beautiful!

Young Trojans offensive slump continued at Dallas Pinkston in a 62-46 loss. After averaging almost 60 in 1st 2 games, last 2 have been 43ppg. Sophomores played 121 of 160 minutes. Soph Winford leads team with 22. Trojans play in Troy at noon on Saturday against Venus. Go Trojans!

Four minute scoreless stretch in 4th dooms Trojans in 60-54 loss to Seagoville in Troy. The game featured over a dozen lead changes & 8 ties. Winford leads way with 22. Cobb adds 20. District play starts Tuesday in Troy against Wakeland. Go Trojans!

For the second straight game a 4 minute 4th quarter scoreless drought dooms Trojans in a 57-46 loss to Wakeland. Trojans led 44-43 w/7:28 to play, trailed 55-44 w/3:31 to play. Winford leads the way with 13. Wofford chips in 11. Team plays at The Colony on Friday. Go Trojans!

@newmansmith Trojans turn 44-42 lead into 72-46 win with an onslaught the last 11 minutes of the game at RL Turner. Team trailed by 7 early, but never relented! Edmonds leads the way with 18. Beal has 12. Cobb & Collins add 11. Next game is Tuesday at Wakeland. Go Trojans!

Congratulations to Freshman Phenom Jonovan Woods for being selected as 2nd Team All District in District 12-5A! Woods shot an astounding 52% from the field this season & scored in double figures 8X in District play! The next 3 years look bright for Trojan Basketball! Go Trojans!
