20 years from now, all that will matter is that you were a college athlete. Not the level or school you went to. The experience will be the memories you share and treasure. The other stuff won’t be important.

Fitting a team culture seems as important as anything. For your happiness with soccer, how you fit with the culture and style of play can determine a lot of your happiness. Important to do visits, and see teams train and play in games. Check all the soccer experience boxes.

A big reminder it’s not about the start, but the finish. Syd signed her first pro contract in Iceland a few weeks back! Her path went UC Irvine, Cerritos Junior College, Seattle U, torn ACL first training - redshirt, competed 2 years at SU, graduated with degree, pro contact.

Another favorite success story. Rachel T graduated HS in 2015 from Nikiski, Alaska. She didn’t play club soccer, no ODP, just a 3 sport high school athlete. She sent her high school film to us at Highline CC in the mail via a DVD. After 2 years, she transferred to play at WSU …

Continued. At WSU, Rachel was multiple time PAC 12 player of the week and helped her team to a Sweet 16 run. And is still one of the few power 5 soccer players from Alaska. She is the reminder that it doesn’t matter where you’re from or what your background is, you have a chance!

In 2002, Lorenzo Romar was the 4th choice for Washington MBB head coach hire. He went onto become the second winningest coach in UW program history. Story meaning: Sometimes the best fit is the one you've never considered. Be open to all options and find the perfect fit.

In 2017, I had a player pass away in a hiking accident. I learned although gut wrenching, her memory created a change in so many lives and she would have a lasting impact. Katie Meyer will have the same impact on so many lives and her memory will not be forgotten. Continued…

Although it’ll always be hard and sad, she’ll be remembered in a special way and change lives for the better with the way she lived and the impact she’ll have on those who never knew her. Prayers going out to the Stanford community and her family and friends.

Alaska Fairbanks MBB trying to get a Disney movie in the future. From last place in their conference, win the conference tournament and now in the DII Sweet 16. Incredible run for a team with a 7-14 regular season record. Belief is as important as anything in success.

As a young journalist coming out of college, I was lucky enough to sit and have a dinner with John Clayton and pick his brain. Amazingly friendly person who never seemed like a famous football reporter. Just an ultra normal guy. We lost a good one tonight. RIP, John.

Nothing better than seeing former players accomplishing their dreams of becoming professional athletes or getting to their dream non-soccer jobs.

Always blessed and grateful for every opportunity I’ve been given. Looking forward to the pre-professional environment USL W League offers and being apart of the journey for players achieving their dreams. Lucky to continuing growing as a coach for Seattle U and Oly Town FC.

Running it back for another season as a sporting director in the USL with FC Olympia. Seeing this graphic is a good reminder of how lucky I’ve been in this career as a coach.
