My two cents for the daily harvestmen for #Arachtober 2021. The weird Hernandaria scabricula Sørensen, 1884, from El Tigre, Buenos Aires, Argentina. This species exhibit an interesting soil crypsis as camouflage. #Opiliones

If you dig 2 holes in a field, you can find earthworms in the soil from 1 hole but not the other. What controls the distribution of earthworms has remained a poorly understood question since the time of Darwin? New website is finally coming together. Spiders, harvestman, mites and pseudoscorpions done. Springtails in progress. Just a couple of small groups - insects, myriapods, isopods and 'more' left to do 😅 Hoping to make it available in some form by the end of the year...🤞

I'm not sure what this #Pauropod is doing, but it hasn't moved a muscle for a day now. It could be dying but it's not curled up and dried up like dead pauropods, it's just standing there. Very strange... #soilbiodiversity #mesofauna

It's getting to that time of year dactylochelifer latreilli are perticulerly active on sand dunes. The best way to look for this speices is to gently part marram grass and watch the bare sand for movement. You could also find some scare dune spiders and insects! Can you spot it?
