This juvenile female killer whale was found on Orkney on New Year’s Day and is currently en-route for postmortem. Focus will be on impacts from threats of human origin (contaminants, entanglement), of which these animals are particularly vulnerable. PM findings to follow.

If anyone sees any tiny blue sharks this year in the S and west of the U.K. (lesser spotted dogfish size) could they send a picture. We are particularly interested in the underside of the pup as it will allow NOAA to age the fish & get an idea of how close the pupping occurred

I really do think this juvenile blue shark is my favorite animal.
