Your shot selection is the mirror to your culture. You can usually watch just a handful of possessions and tell which shots a team values on offense or if shot selection is discussed at all. When you have the ball in your hands, you have the program in your hands. Value it.

Great example of 1st touch rules First touch- Anticipation of what to do with the ball prior to receiving it. Anticipation and vision create better decision makers. Love the back spin outlet by Campazzo.

Been breaking down a lot of Gonzaga and 2 things jump out right away 1. They get 4-5 baskets a game on Marion cuts and Wade cuts. An unused skill that Jay Ayayi has mastered. 2. They are incredible at playing off of 2 feet

1. ‘Breaking the floor’ with his last dribble allows LaMelo to lock his eyes on his target earlier to finish. 2. The Extension of his arms after that final pound creates momentum and allows him to manipulate the ball through traffic. 3. Great way to sneakily draw & 1’s.

Slide finish- when secondary defender has rotated in front & you have space (Lowry’s is R/L finish) Anchor foot finish- great way to shed a defender. Try to hit top speed right before anchoring back foot & pulling the chair from the defender. Luka fakes creating advantages

In times of extreme pressure we don’t rise to the occasion, we fall upon our habits. I’m more surprised one of these grazed the rim 😂 Jay Nagle #clutch

Coaching points inform players. Questions engage them. Enthusiasm inspires them. Jargon confuses them. Negativity loses them. -GC

Decision making ‘TCGTT’ Doug Lemov: At the highest level, players don’t run faster; they think faster. Speed is confidence in & clarity about decisions. Part of being fast is making better decisions. “When I start running earlier than the others, I appear faster.” JC

As coaches, we are trying to cultivate cultures. Normalize vulnerability. Trying to make the invisible visible and get a team 75% of the way there and leave room for the magic. Stolen from Ted Lasso via a podcast.

Hunt. Pass. Pass 1 Draws the attention of a second defender- Quick pass causes weak side rotation Quick “one more” creating open jumper.

As a team, once you’ve created an identity with standards and behaviors that drive those standards, you are more likely to fight for that identity daily. It’s one thing to say I want this. It’s another thing entirely to say I am this. #GoodTalk
