BIG decision coming out of ECOWAS, finding Kano, Nigeria’s sharia & ā€œsecularā€ blasphemy laws are violations of free expression. Orders Fed govt to repeal laws. Has big implications for prisoners like Yahaya Sharif-Aminu. Huge congrats to Solomon Okedara on his trailblazing win!

The ECOWAS Court is indeed living up to the status of a regional "Protector" of Human Rights and this is the hallmark of my thoughts on adjudication of human rights issues by the regional court as published by the BusinessDayNG businessday.ng/news/legal-bus…

Yesterday, our landmark judgment on blasphemy laws by the ecowascourt got featured in Cameroon's newspapers of The Guardian Post Daily (Page 9) and the Cameroon Insider (Page 16). This will definitely inspire advancement of freedom of expression beyond our borders.

ECOWAS @ 50: While I believe the community has made considerable attempts to protect the rights of its citizens, more works still need to be done. This is my thought as perfectly captured in the report by the The Guardian Nigeria below: guardian.ng/news/ecowas-50…
