McCarty Woods--Plants of the week. Common now are some of the following plants. Sida, Pokeweed, and Coreopsis. See you May 25 for our next restoration event!
McCarty Woods - The new structures taking shape at the east and north entrances of the woods are the frames for new kiosks, constructed via the courtesy and kind donation of Flannigan companies with the help of UF grounds. They will be completed in a few weeks.
McCarty Woods Comeback-A nice surprise is the comeback of our native wild yam, Dioscorea villosa; native to eastern NA Found it is now seen throughout the woods. It is common in NE corner near parking lot. Sometimes confused with air potato, but lacks bulbils.
McCarty Woods update-There is a lot flowering along the woodland edges now, especially the east side. Here are just a few examples (the goldenrod is another new addition to the flora of the woods!!).
