Hopefully this puts an end to the tedious “Tory members would never choose a black woman as leader” stuff. Just as we’re seeing in the US, the inability of parts of the left to conceive of conservatives and ethnic minorities being aligned is a recipe for unpleasant surprises.

Just to clarify: this isn’t just the first time since WW2 that all incumbent parties in developed countries lost vote share. It’s the first time since this data was first recorded in 1905. Essentially the first time in the history of democracy (universal suffrage began in 1894).

Goodwin's category of "mother born abroad" covers Winston Churchill as well as Kemi Badenoch, Ed Miliband and Nick Clegg. Extend it to parents and he catches King Charles III, Michael Howard & Harry Kane.

It's official: London is the greatest city in the world. Again. (at least in terms of its reputation) 22,000 respondents across 30 different countries told us it was the place they most wanted to live, visit, and/or work. worldsbestcities.com/rankings/world…
