Heads up for anyone driving between Boise and Mtn Home today. As of yesterday's update from BLM, the fire is expected to be under control tonight by 6 pm. The fire was last mapped at 8,902 acres.

3:27 pm update Storms are firing up again this afternoon. We may see a few sneak into the Treasure Valley. Main threats again are gusty winds from outflow boundaries. The winds from outflow boundaries can create new storms or make storms stronger. Stay tuned for updates.

5:20 pm update Storms are increasing. Radar indicates that some of these storms are producing hail and wind gusts up to 55 mph. Melba, you might feel some sprinkles shortly.

This is a great example of the influence of outflow boundaries can have. You can see the area in the blue circle, a faint horizontal line moves through (outflow boundary) & then the existing storm increases in intensity, moves north & even initiates new storms.
