May Bulman Crisis Sophie The Independent Matt Downie is now talking through the experiences of people that we found in our research. As he says, no strategy to #endhomeless is complete without a strategy to end homelessness for everyone. We need support for people based on need, not based on where they are from

More from me: the measures taken to help people experiencing homelessness since COVID hit are enormous. Still over 130,000 households needed help from their council between Apr - Sept. This week's stats tell us a lot about how to build back better 👇 crisis.org.uk/about-us/the-c…

I'm very proud that the last report I worked on Crisis was the 2021 Homelessness Monitor England from I-SPHERE @ HWU. It's a very good read covering what has been a big year - challenges, opportunities, lots still to be done. Great thread from Francesca Albanese on the detail 👇

Some analysis of the new guidance on the rough sleeping Immigration Rules 👇 They fly in the face of what WE KNOW works to support people sleeping rough and will target some of the most vulnerable people, not to mention undermining trust in homelessness services for many more.

Last year nearly 20,000 households were made homeless because of no fault evictions. Cost of living risks sending homelessness soaring over the next few months. How can something that could be done to stop this not be a priority?

No-one chooses a tent over a home in the winter. To put their actual lives at risk. This situation is because of a lack of housing and appropriate support services. To criminalise people on the extreme end of homelessness and the services trying to help them is contemptible 😡

Rough sleeping numbers are rising. Record numbers of people in temporary accommodation. Capacity in the homelessness sector has plummeted. This is absurd in it's cruelty. No one chooses the trauma of rough sleeping. But it is a choice not to make the policy changes to end it.
