Thank you Sir Jeremy Hunt MP for asking this question. The loss of ring fencing is effectively a loss of targeted funding for #maternity safety improvements. There is a moral and financial imperative to get safety right and this move undermines that.

Rates of baby deaths continued to decrease in 2023, mostly due to a reduction in stillbirths. Compared with 2022, stillbirth rates were lower in every nation of the UK and fewer newborns died in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. TIMMS
