Good hand hygiene could reduce cases of respiratory diseases by 20% and of diarrhoea by 30%. That means it has potential for a huge impact on preventing the spread of #COVID19. Here’s how: bit.ly/2KiJQiR #GlobalHandwashingDay

#NotATarget

Disappointed to see Syria appointed to the World Health Organization (WHO) Executive Board. EB members should uphold human rights, not abuse them. It’s time for Syria to protect, not target, health facilities and workers and allow unimpeded access for humanitarian aid, including medical supplies.

Syria’s appointment to World Health Organization (WHO) Executive Board stands in stark contrast to the regime's consistent targeting of medical facilities & workers. 3 UN bodies found Assad responsible for atrocities against the Syrian people. His regime will now play a role in the governance of the WHO.

Executive Board members should champion human rights, not abuse them. More than ever, the regime must protect medical facilities & health workers. Unimpeded aid access within & into Syria must be allowed so that vital aid, such as #COVID19 vaccines, can get to those most in need.

The UK condemns the horrific attack on Al-Shifaa Hospital in Afrin yesterday. Hospitals, civilians and aid workers are not targets. The UK calls for calm across northern Syria and urges all parties to abide by existing ceasefire agreements. #NotATarget sams-usa.net/press_release/…

The AUB Medical Centre is one of Lebanon, and the Middle East’s, very best hospitals. Just yet another tragedy the Lebanese are having to bear. How the leaders of #Lebanon have allowed their country get to this point is simple incomprehensible. #SaveLebanon 🙏🏼 🇱🇧 ❤️

The UK has been at the forefront of the health sector response since the onset of the #Syria crisis. We have supported partners to deliver 10.2 million vaccines & 20.7 million medical consultations, responding to the health needs of Syrians & alleviating their suffering.

We strongly condemn horrific attacks on healthcare facilities in Syria. Those responsible must be held to account. At #WHA75, 🇬🇧 is reinforcing the need to protect civilians seeking care & 🌎medical personnel - actions should comply w/ UNSCR2286 protecting, health in conflict.

Thank you International Development Committee Sarah Champion for inviting me to speak about what is happening in Gaza today. Medical Aid for Palestinians's key take away: this humanitarian catastrophe is not some unfortunate accident. Israel is conducting a war against Palestinian survival.
